Due to bad weather conditions we had to postpone filming today as some of the group couldn't get into college, I also could not post certain bits onto my blog due to not having the software at home that I would usually have access too at college. I hope the snow clears soon as I really don't want to fall behind.

Research & Planning- Analysis of a film magazine

When looking at film magazines to analyse it was hard to find covers that went with our genre because we are doing a horror, so instead i looked at comedy film magazine cover.

Genre

• Looking at the main image on the cover you can tell its a horror/comedy, as the actor is Simon Pegg who usually stars in comedy films. You can tell its a horror because of the blood on his costume.

Narrative

• Even though Simon Pegg usually stars in comedy films he has a really serious facial expression and blood on his clothes, he also has hold of a cricket bat which suggest that is has some from of action in it.

Representation 

• Simon Pegg on the front of the magazine is represented as a bit of a hero, he is also the protagonised in the film which is also shown on the magazine because he dominates the front cover.
• Also the red text represents blood in the film and also the blood on his costume shows it is going to be some kind of horror hybrid.

In the lesson today me and abby had another meeting we decided to add some more shots into our storyboard which would include a victim in the trailer. We have also had a think about who will be the main characters in the trailer and how often each character would be shown in the trailer.

I went onto the apple wesite and hada look at final cut and the editing tools that i might consider using in the dance spoof teaser trailer.

Research & Planning - Micro Elements

In my group i will be in charge of editing the teaser trailer. Here is a list of some of the edits i am planning on using in the dance spoof teaser trailer.

Research & Planning- Codes and conventions of a film poster

Conventions of a film poster
From analyzing various Horror film posters, our film poster must contain:

• Main character(s)
• Dark Colours, Shadows
• Scary Font
• The title of the film
• A catchy saying which will relate to the film.
• Red Font or blood  

Research & Planning - Film Poster Analysis

In the Last Exorcism film poster you can tell the genre of the film is a Horror, the photo used is really freaky, also the font and colour gives away the genre.

You can gather what the narrative of the film is, the film poster is very similar to save the exorcist which suggests thats The Last Exorcism is one of the main films it takes after, also the girl used in the film looks very similar to the girl out of the Exorcist

The colours red and black are typical of a horror film posters, for example The last exorsim poster and the Paranormal Activity poster both red text.

Just looking at The Last Exorcism poster you can tell the audience will maybe be poeple who enjoyed the film the exorcist.

Research & Planning: Production Schedule

This is my production schedule for the next 8 weeks. This is going to help me keep on top of my teaser trailer,  film magazine and film poster until the Christmas holidays. Time after the holidas will be used to evaluate my work.

Research & Planning: Meeting

Today in our meeting me Abby and Megan decided on a rough idea of the plot of the teaser trailer. We have allocated roles, Abby will be in charge of cinematography, Megan will be in charge of mise en scene, and i will be in charge of editing, we will all as a group work on the sound for the teaser trailer. The sound will be quite a big job as our teaser trailer will be in the horror genre and as we are not allowed to use songs due to copyright reasons, we will have to make the sound in our trailer sound as professional as possible.
